GRÊLE
HAIL

Friday, at work, the sky suddenly became very dark. It was only 3hours pm. A storm was coming! But the rain did not fall at first. Hail preceded it! But what hail!!! Some hailstones were as big as golf balls! Never had I seen that. After the heavy rain , I went outside to pick a few of them and put them in the freezer. After work, I brought them home and put them back in the freezer. They had almost not melted even if it was more that 90F° outside! :) Yesterday, I took some pics as a proof. My God! I would not have liked one of those big hailstones to fall on my head! :)

Lapin Poulain avec trois grêlons. Le sous donne une idée de leur grosseur.
Lapin Poulain with 3 hailstones. The one cent is to show how big they really were.

Goodness! The more I read about your weather, the more I am convinced Canada is getting Australia's weather! Gold ball hailstones are an Australian phenomena. Maybe we will soon have igloos in Australia like what you have in Canada ;) PS: We run out and put dooners (duvets?)over the cars (fast and effective and saves lots of money!).

GOLF balls ... not Gold balls! Ha-ha :) Although they fall just as heavy!

WE DON'T HAVE IGLOOS IN CANADA, ANON! :) Even the Inuits don't use them anymore! :))) Gold ball would have been nice...hehhehe... I've discovered more bumps on my poor Muffin (my car). It's now a car with scars!

Olivier, Lapin Poulain t'envoie ses salutations distinguées! ;o)

Joy, you are soooo right! :) *hehehheheheh*

I almost run outside before it was finished...But didn't, Aravis.... :)

Oh yes! We when we were in South Dakota a few weeks ago, the heat index was 106F and then the following day there was hail the size of golf balls. We drove through it, like being pelted by baseball bats through lebanon. Cars were damaged - totalled and in the evening Hill City was covered in thick fog, it was like winter - I loved it!!!

Outrageous hailstones - positively deadly arent they?! Very cool to have saved them for a pic.
I love your blog being bi-lingual!! And your Bunny friend is cute - see you again soon.

Ces, those weather phenomenon are really interresting! Love them too! But I'm afraid they are telling us that the weather is changing for the worst....
Lapin Poulain says HI! Lavender! :) I think the hailstones are still in my freezer... Hhehehe. :)

You are absolutely right. I mean I loved having been able to see that and not get hurt but really would be scared if it happened again and I did not know where my kids were.

NO IGLOOS!?! I think you are suffering from igloo fever :) Luckily Muffin's windscreen wasn't smashed! Picture us trying to cover trucks twice our height with duvets Heehee! Then the dryer has to work overtime ...

I haven't seen hail like that since I was a kid. It would be nice if they were Gold balls, then you'd be rich, though a bit bruised.
