Quand j'ai vu le thème du concours de cette semaine sur PhotoSharks (masculine) la première chose à laquelle j'ai pensé c'est "guerre"..... Un peu triste n'est-ce pas....

PETIT MATIN EARLY MORNING

Six août 2006. 8hrs 32 heure de Québec... 5hrs 32 heure de Vancouver. Dans le train entre Jasper et Vancouver, impossible de dormir. D'autant plus que je suis toujours sur le décalage.... Autant me lever et regarder le paysage magnifique. Les Rocheuses. La rivière Fraser... Magnifique, je vous dis!

August sixth, 2006. Eight thirty-two hours in Quebec City, but five thirty-two in Vancouver. Sleeping more is impossible cause I'm still on Quebec hour. So I got up and admired the wonderful scenery! The Rockies and Frasier River. Did I say wonderful?

Il y a un nouveau concours sur le net! Chouette! Il viendra remplacer le défunt PXite du samedi... Le premier thème sur ShutterDay est *first*. Voici donc une photo de ma première caméra. Je l'ai reçue à Noël 1964... Un jouet! Pour les films 127. Et j'ai encore tous les négatifs!!!! :)

There is a new contest on the net. Cool! It will replace PXite on Satuday... The first theme on ShutterDay is... *first*. So here is my first camera. I received it as a Christmas gift in 1964... A toy. For 127 photos. And I still have all the negatives!!!! :)

J'ai pris cette photo dans le train entre Jasper et Vancouver, l'été dernier. J'étais fascinée par cette dame japonaise et par son magnifique chapeau rose.... Elle ne s'est jamais rendu compte que je la photographiais!

Je vous présente cette image pour vous annoncer que je suis en vacances et que je vais en profiter pour commencer à vous raconter mon voyage dans l'Ouest canadien! :) Je suis une procrastinatrice, je sais..... I took this photo last Summer, in the train between Jasper and Vancouver. I was fascinated by this Japanese lady and her nice pink hat... She never noticed that I was taking pics of her!

I show you this image to announce you that I'm on vacations and that I will take this time to tell you the story of my Canadian West journey! :) I know! I am a procrastinator.... GRAVITÉ GRAVITY

Peter MacTavish était un paresseux reconnu. Ce jour là d'été 1548, si Peter n'avait pas fait une de ses 12 siestes quotidiennes, il aurait pu faire une rencontre du 4ème type. Il aurait pu aussi observer un magnifique et rare spécimen de Dolomedes fimbriatus juste au dessus de sa tête. Ou il aurait pu découvrir la loi de la gravité presque 150 ans avant Newton. Mais surtout, il aurait pu sauver d'une mort atroce Charlotte, sa grenouille apprivoisée....

Peter MacTavish was lazy. On that nice Summer day of 1548, Peter was taking one of his 12 nap-of-the-day... If he had not been sleeping, he could have made an encounter of the fourth kind. Or he could have observed just below him a wonderful and rare specimen of Dolomedes fimbriatus. He could also have discovered the law of gravity, almost 150 years before Mr Newton. But the most important thing is that he could have saved Charlotte, his pet frog.....

GIVRE FROST

Quand j'ai vu le thème du concours sur "Tuesday Challenge", je me suis demandé où j'allais bien trouver du givre.... Mwhahhahaha! Il y en a dans toutes mes fenêtres!!!! En voici un exemple.

Yesterday, when I saw the theme on "Tuesday Challenge" I asked myself where I would find some frost.... Mwhahahahah! Then I realized there was frost on all my windows!!! Here's an example.

J'étais à Saint-Boniface au Manitoba. Et ce fut la soirée la plus belle de l'été. La température était vraiment parfaite. Cette photo fut prise au cimetière de la petite ville.

Je dois ajouter que je n'ai pas dutout dutout dutout cette forme de poire... Hhehhehe! :)

I was in St-Boniface, Manitoba. This was one of the nicest evening of Summer. The temperature was perfect! I have taken that pic in the cemetary of that small town.

I have to add that in reality, I don't look like a pear.... Hhehehehhe. :)

EN MOUVEMENT IN MOTION

Hier, Clo, Gene et moi sommes allées à la première parade du Carnaval. Il faisait froid et humide, et nous avons gelé! Les pieds dans la gadoue. La parade était en retard d'au moins 45 minutes. J'ai malheureusement dû aller me réchauffer pendant la parade, car je n'en pouvais plus. Un bon chocolat chaud! J'ai tout de même réussi à prendre quelques images passables.

Yesterday Clo, Gene and I went to the first parade of the Carnaval de Québec. It was really cold and humid and we were frozen! Feet in the slush! There was at least a 45 minutes delay and when it began, I had to go inside for 15 minutes. So I missed a few good moments. But I took a hot chocolate! I manage to take some photos...

LA PARADE THE PARADE

Quand la parade a enfin commençé, nous étions frigorifiées! La neige s'était mise à tomber et le froid rendait mon appareil très lent. Les pires conditions pour prendre des photos! Un froid intense et humide, de la neige qui tombe sur l'objectif, l'appareil qui gèle, des sujets en mouvement et un éclairage avec des zones très contrastées, très lumineuses ou très sombres!!! J'ai quand même réussi à prendre quelques images pas trop mauvaises, que j'ai dû rééquilibrer dans Photoshop!!! :)

When tha parade began, we were frozen! The snow was falling and my camera was really slow because of the cold. The worst conditions one can have! Cold and humid temperature, subjects mooving, snow falling on my poor Canon and very contrasted lights, too strong or to dark! I manage to take a few "not-so-bad" pics. But I had to work them in Photoshop...!!! :)

Plantées dans le sable. Se balançant au gré des courants marins. J'ai pu observer ces étranges créatures à l'Aquarium de Vancouver. J'ai oublié de prendre leur nom en note, tant j'étais fascinée par leur étrange ballet...

Standing in the sand. Slowly moving with the marine stream. I observed those strange creatures at the Vancouver Aquarium. But never did I think to take note of their species. I was too fascinated by their strange dance...
