POUR GINNIE: SOLARISATIONFOR GINNIE: SOLARIZATION

Ginnie de In Soul me demandait récemment ce qu'était une solarisation. Je lui ai envoyé un courriel pas très clair, je pense, essayant de lui expliquer ce qu'était une solarisation... Et quelle était la différence avec une postérisation... Comme une image vaut mille mots, voici une solarisation que j'ai faite en chambre noire. C'est évidemment l'image de gauche. J'ai ensuite créé l'image de droite, toujours en chambre noire, en me servant de la solarisation comme d'un négatif. Placée à l'envers sur un papier photo vierge, et exposition de plusieurs minutes. Voilà le résultat. Pour en savoir plus sur la solarisation et la postérisation, suivez les liens vers Wikipédia. Aujourd'hui, on peut obtenir ce genre d'image par Photoshop. Mais ce n'est pas tout à fait la même chose. Et c'est sûrement moins amusant...

Yesterday, I e-mailed Ginnie from In Soul. I tried to explain her the differences between a solarization and a posterisation... I was not very clear, I think... So I decided to show this solarization I made in a darkroom a few years ago. It's the left image. The one at the right was create in the darkroom by using the first one as a negative. On a photo paper with a very long exposition... (Few minutes). And if you want to know the differences between Solarization and Posterisation, follow the links to Wikipedia. Today, you can make those kind of images in Photoshop. But it's not exactly the same... And less fun!
