ILLUSTRATIONFRIDAY: *GLAMOUR*

For me, the fourties and the fifties are the most representative years of the "glamour" theme. In the sixties, after Twiggy, nothing is the same.... I choosed to illustrate today the theme of Illo friday with some pics of my mom and dad, taken during those glamourous years. The images have been transformed in Photoshop. My parents were then very young and handsome. And very glamour.

Sweet Merlinprincesse, I am extraordinarily interested in knowing more about that coat your father is wearing....it seems highly unusual, especially the hood and cuff trimmings. Can you enlighten me some more.....I dig how cigs were such a standard issue for men (not that I smoke).

Go back to the Roaring 20's and 30's, too, when my parents were like yours. What was it back then!!! The clothes, the hair, the LOOK!

Hardwax:Indeed she was! She was first a school teacher then a speaker on local radio (CBC) then a journalist. Too bad she had to quit all this after her wedding. But she's still alive and at 80yo, still an intellectual. I love her so much!

Detlef: My father died 10 years ago. So I can't really help you with this one. I know that he was stationed in North Pole as a Military during the WWII. Maybe this was one of his coats... I will post the original pic for ya this afternoon so you can see better. And ask my mom if she remembers it... :o) And yes smoking was kinda glamourous in those years. My dad stopped smoking in the seventies....

Unknown: Thanks indeed! Love.

Marc: Merci beaucoup!

Kind Anonymous: Thanks my anonymous friend!

I'm back! And I love what you've done with these photos. I have some photos of my parents in the fifties that I could play with. Thanks for the idea... I also have photos of my dad where he looks like he's wearing lipstick.

Hey Ginnie! I forgot ya!!!!! Bad Merlinprincesse... That's true that the twenties and the thirties were not bad for glamoor too! I wonder if the beginnings of cinema have something to do with it... I think so.

Caroline: That's true. My mom was a very beautiful girl and she was often asked ir she was an actress...

Beautiful pictures of those beautiful people.

That cigarette adds JUST the right touch. Did they already know each other at the time of these photos?

merlinprincesse a dit…

They knew each other but only because they were from the same village. This pic was about 10 years before their wedding...
